Hi,

we are running 10g RAC on a 3-node cluster on HP-UX 11.11.
RAC is configured using both client-side and server-side load balancing. Server side load balancing should distribute user sessions based on system load (not based on number of sessions).

Does anybody know how this actually balancing is done ? What "system load" means? Is it the CPU usage, or CPU idle time or run-queue length or average load shown in "top", or a combination of more items ?

Thanks,
Liliana

Server side load balancing is based on CPU usage. PMON periodically updates all registered listeners with the node's CPU utilization. The listener then directs connections to the least loaded node.
