Hello - Can anyone help with where to check Oracle 9i Alert logs and how in UNIX Sun Solaris 5.8 machine ? Please let me know my alternatiev if you dont mind. Thanks in advance.

The location is site dependent.
Typically the alert_SID.log file resides under ORACLE_BASE directory & within admin/bdump directory.

find / -name alert_SID.log -print

And you can check "bdump" folder location through below parameter.
SQL> show parameter background_dump_dest
