RMAN error question from a newbie [message #283624]

Greetings everyone,

I just joined this community the other day and I have to say lots of great information for newbies such as myself. I was recently blessed to the dba position with no training. I started looking at our OEM nightly backups and noticed backups have been failing. This is the error msg:

Like I mentioned I have never used RMAN or had any training as a dba so i'm self teaching myself here hehe. I'm not sure why a bkp file is not there for it to find, but I read somewhere that perhaps I might need to purge the RMAN catalog. Anyone run into this before?

Again I apologize in advance if this is a dumb question but i'm totally new and a bit lost Sad

Are you using a recovery catalog?

First verify if the file is actually on the filesystem. Then run the following command while in RMAN from the command prompt:

RMAN> crosscheck backup;
RMAN> delete expired backup;

Then try the backup again.

With being new, the following documentation may also help:
