Excuse my ignorance as I'm new to Oracle administration. I just inherited a server that runs Small Scale Oracle and a Blackboard J2EE application server. As required by Blackboard the Oracle instance runs on the same server as Blackboard. I'm attempting to configure our ArcServe client to backup the database. To do so I need to setup a RMAN catalog in a separate database instance. How should I go about creating this new database to house the RMAN catalog? I'm assuming this new database instance would not need to be too large and could be created to use a small amount of memory. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also how would I go about specifically creating this database (I've never created an Oracle DB before). Thanks in advance.
