My RMAN backup log says:

channel ch01: starting piece 1 at 02-JAN-07

everytime it starts a backup piece.

How do I get the RMAN backup log to say:

channel ch01: starting piece 1 at 02-JAN-07:11:56:57

( I mean, how do I include hr:mm:ss)

I thought I tried setting the NLS_DATE variable in the bash_profile, but it doesn't seem to work.

Suggestions?

Correction: I set the NLS_DATE_FORMAT.

And also, we are using RMAN catalog database and I set the variable in both catalog and target server. (even though I thought that the value set in the target server will overwrite the one in catalog server)
