Hello folks,
I'm a new dba Oracle.
I've an 9i DB on Linux RedHat as OS.

In sqlplus, and in order to go backward to a previous statement that I've already submitted using the VI editor command (ESC,j), I receive only unreadable symbols.

I should say that I submit the statement "set -o vi", but still I'm in deception.

How can I make the editor VI as the default editor for SQLPLUS?

Thanks for any help.

After 4 years and 70 posts, it is quite amazing.

You can't do this but I remember there was someone in a post saying you can do it with an external program.

DEFINE _EDITOR=vi

Topic title is "Editor pb". I know what editor is. But, what is "pb"? Lead? (Latin: plumbum) Doesn't make sense. And now I have a pb: can't understand what the problem is.

Perhaps you should, as a newbie, read OraFAQ Forum Guide to learn how to properly write a post.
