What gets transferred WHEN depends on how you have configured you transport services (LGWR or ARCH). Also, when the data gets APPLIED depends on what version of Data Guard you are running. Beginning with DG 10.1, "real-time apply" is an option where the Standby Database applies the transactions received via LGWR as they arrive. In 9.2 and earlier, logs are applied when a log switch occurs.

Hi M

Real Time means it will update the standby database as we make any change in particular ROW in Primary database or it will wait to receive the redo log or it will directly read the primary redo log and update that particular row.

One more thing i want to ask my database generate 800M of redo log in peak hrs will the data gaurd support it yes then how the redo log manage in real time

Kindly Help and Suggest

The difference between "Real Time Apply" and other configurations is that Real Time Apply (RTA) does perform transactions on the Standby Database as they are written to the Online Redo Log file on the Primary Database. Normally (without RTA), the transactions are not applied until a log switch occurs on the Primary Database (which triggers a log switch of the Standby Redo Logs on the Standby Database).

Not before commit.
