I need to move the production Oracle 8i datafiles to a new EMC device. I can do it just fine if I use UNC path in the control file. Currently we have the same datafiles in a Netapp device and the control file and OS have network drives pointing to the location of the datafiles. I am unable to have oracle recognize the datafiles in the EMC device by using a network drive (\\server_name\share_name) I need to use full UNC notation. Is there a way to solve this problem. Thanks in advance.
