Error Installing Oracle 10g [message #165742]

Hi I am using windows 2000 with sp4. I am getting an error installing Oracle 10g. The Error message window has the caption as "Java Virtual Machine Launcher" and the message is
"Could not find the main class. Program will exit." I read somewhere that it is caused if the installation directory has spaces. I have changed my installtion directory to c:\temp but still it is showing the same error.

Please help me if someone knows its solution.

Do you have any additional JDK installed? If so: uninstall it, it might conflict with Oracle's own installer.

Thanks for the quick reply. I don't have any JDK installed on my system. Do I need to install JVM.

I am also facing same problem.

At First i have installed fresh windows 2000 with sp4.
then i have tried to install oracle 10g database. It shown me "Java virtual machine launcher" --- "Could not find Main class program will exit"

Then I have installed jdk and tried for oracle 10g database installation. now system showing me:
"Java virtual machine launcher" --- "Fatal execption occured. program will exit"

Is there any body can guide me.
