Greetings all,

I was wondering if there was a way to connect programmatically to Oracle without using the client.

Is there?

(Assuming the answer is no,)

I'm currently using ADO to connect to the oracle 9i server (using the OraOLEDB.Oracle provider).

My questions are:
Is there an oracle version of the connector so that I won't have to install the latest version of the MDAC on every client machine?

If there is an oracle version, is it installed with the client, and how is it used?

What is the most basic and lightweight Client installation possible that will still allow the ADO connectivity?

Thanks,
Sean
