Hi, does any body run with ORACLE/TNS's in a VIPA environment ?

If so, how did one migrate from a static TCP/IP address to a VIPA TCP/IP address ?

Thanks Raj.

Hi Raj,

I asked our Network person why we, DBAs, didn't need to do anything special when switching from static to VIPA and his answer is:

The changes are done within tcpip via the profile configuration and routing configuration.

Basically, we use (even prior to going to VIPA) reserved ports within OS/390 for our Oracle NETs. Therefore, we never code the normal '1521', but ports that have been assigned to each Oracle NET.
