Hello,

can somebody confirm, that an update of the java/sdk version in eg UnitedLinux will not affect the installed Oracle products, mainly database, because the Oracle products have there own java.

You can have as many Java installations as you want. Just don't change the following environment variables when using Oracle's Java utilities:

- JAVA_HOME
- JRE_HOME
- CLASSPATH

Thanks, this means oracle product have there own java kit onboard and are independent from (let's say) OS java installations. Oracle Products should therefore run even if no java is installed.

Yes, that is true for most operating systems. However, there are some exceptions, like with HP-UX.
