All,
I used the RH ES 3 and Oracle 9.2.0.1.0
Now I want to use dbca to create database, but the dbca reports error message as 'the character set is error';after I created database, the startup command runs with error message as "ORA-12709 can't load character set" and can start the database.
I check my Linux sets, the local command appears information as "LC_LANG=en_US-UTF-8".And oracle user has 'NLS_LANG=AMERICAN' in the .bash_profile file.
Then I deleted the database then recreate databse, befor I deleted the NLS_LANG item, but the same ORA-12709 error message.
Help, how can I solve the issue?
Thank you! Embarassed

At $ORACLE_HOME/ocommon/nls/admin/data
Run following command:
strings * | grep -i we8iso8859p1
There is the we8iso8859p1 in the output.
How can I solve the problem?
Thank you! Embarassed
