Is it possible to install Oracle 8 if i am using Red Hat Linux 7.2?
I was told that i would need to have Oracle 9i. Is it correct?
Thank you.

Greetings Denis !!
Although it is possible to install Oracle 8/8i on Red Hat Linux 7.2, it has been stated that Oracle Releases 8.x were never certified for use on Red Hat Linux 7.2.
It's not impossible, but you're apt to hit a few bumps while performing the installation and you'll have to concentrate on getting all the pre-installation steps right. If you can lay your hands on 9i, that's great.
Otherwise, take a look at the following Website, wherein you can find links to articles, detailing the install procedure for you.

(Follow the links to Oracle and thenceforth to Installation)

Good luck !!!!

I have details of the installations on my website:

http://www.idevelopment.info

From the topics menu, click on "Oracle" -> "DBA Tips" -> Tip# 53 and Tip#54.

Good Luck,
