Hi
I have installed oracle8.when I type usename and password for starting SQL Plus the protocol adapting error occured.what is the problem.

please be sure that oracle is running
if u are using win2k u can check it by
pressing ctrl+alt+del
and see in processes that oracle.exe is shown

let me know it solved the problem
