I am attempting to install Oracle 10G on a REdHat 9 machine. I realize Red Hat 9 is not on the list of supported platforms, but I read about a successful install in an article by Werner Puschitz. When I attempt the installation, I get the following error:

XLib: Connection to "localhost:0.0" refused by server.
XLib: No protocol specified.

Can't connect to X11 Windows Server using "localhost:0.0" as the value of the DISPLAY Variable.

Anyone have any idea?

You can type xhost + in an xterm before starting the installer.

"DISPLAY=:0" or "DISPLAY=:0.0"
for local monitor
and

"DISPLAY=%remote-machines-IP%:0.0"
for remote monitor on a remote linux system
