Hi,

after installing Oracle I can't start an instance
(svrmgrl hangs up). I was recompiling the kernel like
suggested in the Doc. Have anybody had success whith
it?

Thank you!

I also experienced a problem in SuSe 7.3 but I'm not
sure it's the same problem. Looks like some library
files in SuSe7.3 is too new for Oracle8. I couldn't
start svrmgrl since the message "end of communication
channel....." kept on arising. And compiling kernel
won't work. What I did is to downgrade binutil
package to the earlier version. And it worked!!
This URL will tell what you have to do:

Good luck
