Hi all,
My problem is: if I try to connect Oracle 817 EE DB, which runs on Linux 8.1.7 with DBVisualizer 1.2.1, Java-Application, I get this error: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection.
The most funny is, that I can connect other Oracle DBs, but can`t connect DB mentioned above only from my PC, from others no problem. I already checked hosts, dnsnames.ora, some jbdc Drivers for Oracle, everything seems to be ok, but it doesn't work.
I would be very gratefull for your advice.

I have the same question.
I have two Oracle 8i server, one is based on Windows 2000 server ,and the other is based on Unix. When I try to connect database server, there is no problem for Windows 2000 server, and show error message for Unix: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection.
But realy I have connected to the Unix server and the port(1521) and SID. If SID was wrong, error message will be different.

Hi..
I have been trying to get around this problem too. I hope you have found a solution.
I am running a JSP application on a win 98 machine. My Oracle instance is on a UNIX server. I am using Oracle 7.1.6.
I keep getting the message "The Network Adapter could not establish the connection".
I tried pinging. And was successful.
Any solutions.
