Hi
I am working on oracle text on a personal computer. While creating a context search index, I am getting DOS shells popping up and closing successively. Sometimes up to 10 shells stay open when the CPU reaches 100% usage. If these stay with out windows been able to close them, then my index creation fails with an error message (end of file on communication channel). This is presumably because I have a time out.
Now the same problem occurs while using MswindowsXP but not on NT4. As I have said before all my databases and testing are on stand alone low spec machines( 1GH single CPU, 500MB RAM). The machine with NT4 operating system that hasn’t this problem is even a less spec one but runs fine (0.8GH single CPU, 250 MB RAM).

From what I have described above I am linking it to operating system software and hardware. Does any one have the same problem? and if so, is it software problem? Can it be rectified in Oracle or is it Windows problem?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Regards
birzu
