I am a semi-newbie to Oracle. I am working on a project
with a transactional database that is optimized for writing due to massive data feeds. To report on our data
we have been faced with the creation of new "reporting" tables or materialized views.

Question is: Can anyone give me or point me to evidence that I can use in a corporate environment that might explain why one is a better or more sensible solution than the other? For example are there performance differences? Flexibility of one better than the other? Resource utilization differences?

Thanks for any/all help.
