My 11gR2 Database is running with default character set. something like Wxxxxxxx. Now we want to
Convert it to UTF8 for multipyte support.
My db size is 5TB. I have read that we can use export/import for conversion but I think it is not possible for us to use this
method due to huge down time.
Can we use csscaner and csalter to convert character set with minimum downtime.

I give up.
Can you?
Realize that if you try to do as above & a problem occurs, then only recourse is to restore the database from backups.
The only supported method to properly establish DB character set is at database creation time.

Just use them and you will see their answer, it is harmless.

So you have no other choice than export/import.
Note that since April you'd have finished the task if you had started it. Smile
