Are you trying to set up Data Guard? If so, what is the problem?

So you want to create a standby database or not?

What is the difference between a standby database and what you want to do?

In DC ,we have installed RAC ( 2 NODE) , when DC unavailable , DR database will be Live.

DR database will be E:\Projects_CBS\DR_database

Sounds like a physical standby database to me. Or are you trying to avoid paying licence fees for the DR site?

We have purchase Oracle licence for RAC, Data Guard also Cloud control. DR site in standalone database is very much vital for us.

If SAN replication is synchronous, there is nothing to do, just start the DR database when DC is down.

There is no such thing as a licence for Data Guard, it is part of Enterprise Edition. There is no such thing as a licence for Cloud Control, you licence the individual managed resources, not OEM. So, to repeat, have you licensed the DR site? If you have, use Data Guard. If you haven't, you can't start an database instance there.

John, if I understand him correctly this is a SAN replication of all database files. If you cut the SAN link and start the database on the DR site Oracle will think there has been an instance shutdown and will do an instance recovery.

I agree with you on this - but I have never made it work. That will be because I have never had the SAN replication working synchronously. The Sys admins do not understand what is needed.
I'm sure it does work, but I have no confidence in being able to set it up.

You have a specific problem: it is illegal for you to test, if you have not licensed the DR site. As you have repeatedly ignored questions about that, I assume that it is not licensed and that the whole idea is to avoid the need to license it. OK, no problem. But it means that you have get rock-solid guarantee from your SAN vendor and from Oracle that it will work. Because you can't test it.

I had it (in an investment banking client) and it works. Oracle is really strong.

As I said, there is nothing to do at Oracle side.
(Almost) All is made by your storage team.

Michel and John, per your responses, I have a question. Do you guys mean/agree respectively that data guard licensing is not a part of Oracle Enterprise editiin having all components included? Components for example RAC...

Data Guard is part of EE, but the broker not (at least the last time I checked it but license contents changed so often...).

What didn't you understand to what I said?
I advise you to hire someone and validate to do this, you are not skilled enough.

How do you open the database normally?
What's difficult thing you or your team or your hire DBA, System Admin face?
The synchronization SAN-to-SAN, even Storage-to-Storage always has got one difficult thing. When you got success synchrony, you must have got it. Tell me what's it?
