8i has been obsoleted & unsupported this whole Century.
8i was dead & unsupported before Windows 2008 was born.
There is ZERO expectation that this combination could or would work together!
Submit Service Request to Oracle Support for additional assistance.

This,Quote:
my oracle8i service did not start
is not a very precise error message. However, one possibility is that joining the domain means that the Windows user id used to to start the Oracle service is no longer being authenticated. Your Windows support people should be able to sort this out. As BS suggests, Oracle Support is unlikely to assist.

Good luck - if my experience of Windows security issues is anything to go by, you will need it.

Hi,

You can start the service by disabling UAC settings in control panel,This might be some security issue but i am not sure just try, using your Local admin user disable UAC settings and restart server and then go to start oracle service.

Anil
