Hi,

We have a requirement to send mail to user upon completion of a job in oracle database.

I found that 'mailx' command of linux can be used to send mails. I tried the below command but its failing with 'connection refused' error. Can you please assist

mailx -s "Test mail" "<email_id"

Try to telnet the domain name to which mail is to be sent but telnet also says connection refused. But we have heard from the admin team that smtp port is open already.

This question bears no real connection with Oracle.
Please find a more appropriate forum.

However, you might send an e-mail directly from an Oracle database (i.e. when the job finishes), using UTL_MAIL or UTL_SMTP packages. These are described in Oracle documentation, so - pick your version and have a look on http://tahiti.oracle.com.
