Hi,

I am new to Oracle, and we are trying to copy a DB from live server to a dev server. I have received a "backup" of a DB that was made RMAN using the backup wizard from the Enterprise Manager. All I have now on our dev server is a set of files with no extentions (supposedly data and control files), some files are about 6GB each, others are about 40MB each.
Is this is the best way to restore the DB? are these files enough to have a DB ? I could also get a copy of the init.ora if that could help.
Should I suggest to the client another method of transfer? Knowing that it is a live DB so can't be shutdown.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Amir.
