i have old rman level0 backup(test) and need to store this through RMAN duplicate on DEV1 database.
test database control file file does not have old level0 backup information.


please suggest

As part of level0 backup of test database, you are supposed to maintain
a controlfile autobackup also.
You can use that.

You could CATALOG the backup on the TEST database to tell the controlfile about the backup.

But i need to restore old backup on database dev1 not TEST.
Test database is running fine with current data

Yes. That is what we were addressing too.
In order to use the backup from TEST, you need to make the control file understand that it has a level0 backup.

You can restore the database to dev server as name TEST, then using NID to change the db name.

The OP still needs a way to let the controlfile know about the old backup.
