Pro and probe db's are registered with rmandb catalog database...Actually we have refreshed probe db with pro db using User managed hot backup....

After changing the DBID of probe, we have the registered the DB again in catalog database..... But suddenly, pro db name
was changed to probe...

Probe should be pro....

Is there any option to change the DB name in catalog and use the backups

By "probe db" is suppose you are meaning test/dev db.
By "pro db" is suppose you are meaning a production db.

Have no idea what you are talking about.
Rephrase the question.

After refreshing, I would change dbname and everything related by using nid utility. Register the database back.
Though it is perfectly okay to use same catalog for multiple databases,
I just do not prefer it for the said issues.
Use separate catalog for each database (inside the same RMAN catalog database).
And,
Unless you are backing up the "probe db" again, there is no need for that
to be registered in database.

hi,

If you don't care about the old backups, that doesn't exist in control file, unregister both db from the catalog, then register them again.
