HI

I would like to know how could i restore and recover my oracle R12 database in case i lost my server machine.

Steps needed:

1. Get Machine.
2. Install OS
3. Install Oracle server.
4. Restore and recover.

1 and 2 steps i think will be performed by System admin.

Could you anybody help me on 3 and 4.

Kindly help me.

It will work - you should run root.sh and rootpre ... and it's possible that you might need to "make oracle".

I know DBA's that have done this...

However I regard it as lazy and is almost certainly not supported by Oracle.

If one of my DBA's did this then I would "discuss" the matter with them...
