Hi All,
I want to create a catlog db for backup recovery practise.
I have installed oracle 10.2 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux-4(ES)
This done through VMWARE ACE edition.
Windows Host = SERVER007 192.168.22.1 (database=orcl10g)
Linux Host = rac1-priv 192.168.22.3 (database=orcl)
I am able to do telnet to the database orcl through windows.
Now can I go ahead or this process will cause any issu in future.
I need suggestion.

Not sure what kind of answer you are expecting.
All you have is an empty database. Not sure what is preventing you to go ahead and Unless we practice voodoo, none can predict the future.
If you question is about having the catalog database in another OS than the target database,
Yes. You can. Just take an exported dump out of rman catalog database frequently.

You need to establish a TNS connection between the target database and catalog database.
