Hi Guys,

One of my production database is in Archive log mode. The database is generating so many log files each day.

I like to know whether there is a method to identify which archive log files are needed for backup so that i can remove the other unwanted archive log files to make free space in the server.

Increase the size of the REDO LOG files & then you won't have so many.

thanks for your suggestion. I will increase the size of redo log files.

But i like to know whether any method is available to find which archived log files are needed for database backup and good functionality.

Very ambiguous question.
All archived logs are needed, unless you can always predict when your database may crash and when you will be asked to restore to what point in time.

To do a complete recovery, you need all redo log files generated since most recent complete FULL backup.
