Hello,

I'd like to know what all the databases are registered in my catalog database.I did see in the view RC_DATABASE of RMAN schema.But I did not find my database in that view.

1) I'd like to know whether there are any other ways to find out whether the backups are happening in the catalog database or in the Target database control file.Is there any other views to find out .

2) And also need to find out what all the databases are registered in the catalog database.

kindly help me out.

The RC_DATABASE view will show ALL the registered databases. If it's not there, it is not backed-up with that catalog. So, it should be enough.

But apart from that I want to find out if the backups are happening in catalog database or in the target database controlfile.

Any solution for this.

Check the scripts that are used to backup.
No specific method exists to check whether backup info is stored in control file or catalog. A catalog is just an extension of control file to store the info.
You can query the views in catalog, still easiest method is to check the scripts.

Thanks a ton frank and mahesh . The problem is we dont have any contact with the backup team which is Onsite and we are offshore . There lies the problem .

We have seen in the RC_DATABASE view of the recovery catalog , but could'nt find in that our database name . So we were just a little curious to know all the above mentioned .
