I am trying to use ODBC to access Oracle 8.05 database
with ACCESS97. All Oracle client utilities are installed (NET8 Assistant, easy config). Test configuration was successful. I want to create a file DSN in ODBC but I keep getting this error message "A connection could not be made using file data source parameters entered". Also in the sqlnet.log logged my connection and it was using parameters other than what I created with NET8. Please Help.

There are few things you can check.

what ODBC driver you are using, if its Oracle
ODBC driver did you type in all the info
like user, server name, service name?

If it is Microsoft ODBC for oracle, then
did you key in user, and in the place of server
did you type the oracle service name.

If above are correct, you can do a test using
Oracle ODBC test utility(must have installed along with oracle client).

Good Luck
