Hello All,

We are having a 1 Tb database and our backup strategy is RMAN. While taking RMAN backups , its taking a longer time around 5 hrs.

What all precautions do we need to take do reduce the Backup time .
What might be the reasons for the slow backup.

What Bcakup parameters can we set to improve the performance.

regards,
Raj

You can considerImproving Incremental Backup Performance: Change Tracking or depending on your architecture, you may be able to consider Split Mirror Backups with RMAN.

Allocating multiple channels may/may not help too.

Words of wisdom. Smile
Just to add, it also depends on where you are backing up to.
