Hi

Im doing a migration of a 9i single instance to a 10g RAC hosts.

9i is backed up using RMAN to tape.

I need to restore the 9i rman backups to the 10g rac environment. ( THE UPGRADE AND CONVERT TO RAC)

The questions is.

1.) You can restore 9i rman using 10g excutable - right?

Oracle says you can but do not support this process.

2.) After the restore you can then upgrade the retored files to 10g using startup upgrade. Right?

3) definitely you can not use the duplicate method in this scenario, as it can not work. right?

4) You can use a manual method to achive this. It will involve changing the DBID after the process.

5) The best supported method is to install 9i on host2 and restore ( duplicate ) then upgrade to 10g. But i want to go straight with method up without 9i installed on host2.

ANY ONE DONE THE ABOVE PROCESS - STRAIGHT RESTORE USING 10G AND UPGRADE THE RESTORED DATABASE FILES TO 10G. ANY DOCUMENT/STEPS
