As I said in the previous topic you hijacked, this is not the correct forum.
Don't you see there is a forum whose purpose is:
"physical (redo apply) and logical (SQL apply) standby databases."
Don't you think that your question relative to standby database would be appropriate in this forum?

Michel

If these files are missing from the primary & not causing any problems, what is gained by recovering them?

You need to determine a few "details" before proceeding.
1) when did these files go missing?
2) Do you have backups which contain these files?

If you do not have backups that contain the missing files, no recovery is possible.

i never said b4 the missing files are causing problem.i want the currently generated arhivelogfiles (sorry not datafiles) to be synced with standby database everyday.so that in case if primary database is in problem we can use standby database in replace of it.

hope it is clear for you.

>if archivelog files are missing, then what would be the solution for this?
You can not recover standby DB, beyond missing archived redo logfile.

"You can not recover standby DB, beyond missing archived redo logfile."

Please understand my question properly anacedent.

I mean to say this type of incident happens in primary database(missing datafile) which is later to be synchronised with standby db .

Do NOT describe problems.
Using sqlplus along with CUT & PASTE to show actual errors.

You need to determine a few "details" before proceeding.
1) when did these files go missing?
2) Do you have backups which contain these files?

Why won't you answer these questions?
