hi,
What operating system are you using for your database?
Is you database running in archovelog mode?

How large is your database?
Will you be using RMAN to backup your database?

regards

Alan

Nightly backup are the backup which are taken in night due to business constraint ...Wink

surely it will be Cold backup in most of case and if it is hot backup than ... load on DB at that time will be very less... it will not be the peak hour (night).
