Hi Sir,

I have been asked to impliment the RMAN setup,we will be using catalog database, till now my company is following the user managed backup policies.

I have just joined this Database World and would highly appreciate your experienced thoughts on the below questions.

1. If my total database size is 800g out of which used size is 500g, As RMAN takes ony used blocks,
So will what will be the size of the RMAN backup once the Backup completes, will it be 500g or RMAN will compress it.

2. We want to implement RMAN on two databases of 1TB size each, and daily data gowth of 4GB approx.
What will be the best backup plan, will daily incremental level-1 and fortnight level-0 a good one to start with.

DB servers are 10g r2 on Solaris 10 and catalog DB will be HPUX.

Although I know backup/recovery planning depends upon the infrastructure which we are having,
However In a general scenario, what would be the best practice as per my scenario.

I Would highly appreciate your valuable suggestion/thoughts regarding the topic.

Thankyou in Advance.

Thoous.

I fix the link but you could find the doc by yourself with its name.

My valuable comment is you have to first read the basics, for instance chapter 2 Backup and Recovery Strategies.

Michel
