What is the meaning of normal backup in your book?
For me, hot backup is the normal backup. Exact method will depend on
the version of Oracle. From 9i and above, RMAN is the most preferred tool.

Always please google / search the forum before posting.
Hot backup may be better in the sense the database that database needs not be shutdown. With the right setup, one can incrementally
backup. Cold backup are taken after shutting. Most very handy for upgrades, patching etc. Hugely dependent on database size.
