Hi All,
I have faced a issue while importing a dump file that was exported with "direct = y" option using export utility. while importing it throws an error message given below:

IMP-00051: Direct path exported dump file contains illegal column length
IMP-00008: unrecognized statement in the export file:
þÿ^C

I tried this several times by exporting the data again and importing it. But all in vain.
But when i exported the data without direct=y option. It works Smile.
Can you please give your input regarding this issue.
Thanks in advance.
Regards
Lalit

4.IMP-00046; IMP-00008; IMP-00051;
Suggestion : use DIRECT=n and use BINARY MODE for transfer dump file through FTP

Thanks everybody for your instant reply.
My databases are running on oracle version 9.2.0.5 on AIX platform version 5.0.
I have already used conventional path and the it is working fine. Smile
My question is that why i am facing the issue with direct path export.

Hi,
this is some what difficult to get rid of fromIMP-00051 error. The direct=y option is a buggy.I am not able to find a workaround available for this error.

that why we suggested to you please do not perform DIRECT path export.Use CONVENTIONAL path only.

regards
Gopu
